Flirting with Jobs around the World
I don’t know what the future holds for me. What I know is that I should be open to opportunities. Wherever and whenever they might appear.
Currently, let’s say that I’m looking for a job. I don’t know where though. My mindset has been completely reset. So many options! Of course, the quarantine has slowed things down for everyone looking for something new, but that doesn’t mean that it should narrow down our list of opportunities or kill our motivation to seek something better.
Settling for a while is not a bad idea either, and I’m too speaking from a safe position, thus the inspiration for this one — but please, let’s just compromise only for a while…we need to keep our creativity and hopes alive. There are greater things out there, and I believe that since everything is now virtual, it’s the best time ever to ‘flirt around’ and see what suits us best. Don’t you think?
My kind of expertise
Personally, I love writing and brainstorming with various topics and keywords. It used to be about travel, so yeah, my niche is travel content, if you may. Then it was education- it worked fine as well. I learned a lot of things and expressed and “sold myself and skills” in various ways. But I’m not writing anymore, and I know I should go back to it! Writing used to be the chill pill that I’ve recently neglected to take. So I’ll bring it back, with or without a content related job to guide me through. Hopefully, I’ll get a job offer that will excite me and bring me back on track. I had such a job in the past, and I couldn’t be anything less than grateful. (thank you @itinari).
Open up to new opportunities.
Now, safe and secure in the warmth of my small apartment and my overheated computer, I admit that I’m open to new opportunities. I am mentally ready to move to a new country and learn a new language again (COVID19 strongly disagrees), I’m open to relocating, I’m open to learning how to deal with new “content variants.”
Eligible to apply
It’s just the first time that I probably feel so free and eligible to apply literally for everything and everywhere. Clearly, the future seems to tend towards a new virtual reality where all jobs available will be mainly remote, yet (or as a result, maybe?) I caught myself on LinkedIn last week checking jobs in Berlin. And then in Barcelona. And then in Amsterdam. I don’t know whether I’d be that open to all these options if COVID had never existed, so that’s something I discovered I’m grateful for. I keep an open mind; even while browsing around to see what’s on the market has been teaching me a lot — I got some interesting information and changed my perspective on a few things.
Applying COVID-free-ly
Let’s be frank to ourselves, moving or even applying to a different country wouldn’t cross your mind if you still lived in the security of your stable job & lifestyle. But now we’re stuck at home. And this “ existing potential” to move abroad later on and start something new doesn’t sound like a bad idea. We need to escape this routine, and browsing around is an appealing way to start with. Well, it seems to be working in my case.
The remote dream; closer than ever
And then there’s also the remote dream— oh, I suppose that it won't be as unattainable in the “content world” as it used to be in the past — all of you in here know better. The world is our oyster; all we need are laptops, research skills, and an internet connection. And then we’re ready to daydream.
I’m daydreaming… brainstorming, and to be honest, and I got loads of ideas in my head. But hey, recruiters, let me know if you’ve got anything interesting! Let me keep a bright perspective; I’m sure new opportunities are awaiting even during the pandemic.
Being single in the professional world
Quoting Frida, I’m ready for whatever the water gives me. Having options that are not yet bound to geolocation opens up our minds. It’s like being single in the professional world. You can flirt as much as you like till you find the one. Or you can try what you believe would suit you best, and if disappointed.. head for the ONE once again; why not. This remote freedom of applying for jobs literally on every corner of the world, in fact, feels good. And it’s all due to the pandemic.
It’s nice to think you have options, and now it’s easier than ever to broaden your sphere of expertise, both contextually and geographically. Let’s see what the future has in store. Cheers!
